Unlike most South Shore systems drawing from a single watershed, Scituate blends five distinct sources: six active groundwater wells, Old Oaken Bucket Pond, the Tack Factory Pond/Reservoir system, and — for the Humarock section of town specifically — water purchased under an agreement with the neighboring Town of Marshfield.
Public utility records list the primary supply as surface water, meaning the ponds and reservoir carry significant weight in the overall mix alongside the wells.
This is the most important thing we can tell you about Scituate's data: independent public trackers do not agree on the system's violation history, and we think that disagreement is worth being upfront about rather than papering over.

Unlike some neighboring systems, public tracking data indicates Scituate's PFAS monitoring has not shown compounds above EPA's health-based guidelines as of the latest reporting available to us. That's a genuinely different picture than towns where PFAS has turned up above limits, and we think it's worth saying plainly rather than manufacturing concern where the data doesn't support it.
